The Tandberg SLR32 previously known as one version of the MLR1, offers Scalable Linear Recording with a 32Gb data storage capacity at transfer rates of up to 10.8Gb per hour.(assuming 2:1 data compression).

The Tandberg SLR32 is designed for high end UNIX workstations, entry level NT and NetWare PC servers, small NT and UNIX midrange computers.

The Tandberg SLR32  has read and write capability (with the correct cartridge) with previous SLR tape products (SLR4-SLR6 – it backwards reads and writes to SLR6, QIC4Gb,and QIC2Gb) and provides migration capabilities to the 25/50Gb class.
